Joshua Jahn was born in 1996 in Allen, Texas, a suburb north of Dallas. He was raised in a traditional American family, where he participated in Boy Scouts and developed an interest in coding. His family includes his parents and a brother, Noah Jahn. His brother stated that Joshua never expressed his hatred for ICE, and he was not politically active.
Criminal Record and Political Inclinations
In 2016, Joshua Jahn was convicted in Texas of distributing more than 1/4 ounce but less than 5 pounds of marijuana. Public records show that he was an independent voter and voted in November 2024. His sister, Kioko Jahn, also faced charges of simple assault in 2019 and marijuana possession in 2022. However, Kioko’s case was dismissed in 2023.
Attack on Dallas ICE Facility
On September 24, 2025, Joshua Jahn opened fire with a rifle from a nearby building on the Dallas ICE Facility. The shooting killed one person and injured two others. After the shooting, Jahn committed suicide on a nearby rooftop. Bullet casings recovered at the scene were found with “ANTI-ICE” messages, making it clear that the attack was targeted violence.
Mental Health and Possible Motivation
Jahn’s family and friends described him as calm and not involved in any violence. However, some social media profiles have revealed information regarding his political views and recent employment, which has not yet been confirmed.
